About Us!

Reptile Planet was conceived after 4 years in the hobby and much travel around
cyberspace visiting and being part of Reptile related websites and forums.
I started this hobby very Enthusiastic, happy and eager to learn as much as possible, as most of us do, and excited to share my newfound joy in keeping reptiles.
I soon discovered to my dissappointment that not every person on these websites felt the same way.

I discovered a cyberworld of arrogance, nasty gossip, and general negativity among those who claimed to be there for the same reason, and my enthusiastic spirit soon sank.

I also discovered through private meetings with those in the hobby and through a close circle of friends, that those folk who really knew what they were talking about, the REAL experts, who had spent most of their lives interacting with reptiles,
were far from the likes of these arrogant shysters who treated new folk like idiots.

These genuine folk, were pleasant, helpful kind and polite and willing share their wisdom without a hint of arrogance, and they were generally not members of any website. (with a few exceptions)
Why? because they know as I do now that most Reptile websites are just as I described.

In Sep 05 I finally decided that if I couldnt find a Reptile site where new folk were treated with respect, given genuine advice without arrogance, and could freely
show their enthusiasm and not be scorned for it, that I would start my own,
And Reptile Planet (back then "Herpers Anonymous") was born.

Our philosophy here is simple, There is no nasty gossip, no politics, no rumours,
no arrogance here! You are here because you like Reptiles and you want to learn more, share your passion with others of like mind, chat with other freindly Reptile keepers, share pics and be able to ask advice and know you will recive sensible helpful advice from others who have learnt "how to" before you.

You want to share what you have learnt already with others who are new to the hobby. You want to make freinds, not enemys.
This is essentially what Reptile Planet is all about, There are countless Reptile Sites
on the internet, but this philosophy is what makes Reptile Planet different.

It is my intention to maintain the freindly ,enthusiastic spirit of this site, and eventually be known as a great place for new Reptile Keepers to meet others,
learn and teach in turn.
I want to see our site grow into a strong community based on the principles above.
